Highly qualified instructors at CSM offer lessons in all percussion instruments. Students who are enrolled in their school bands or orchestra programs enhance their technical skills and prepare for auditions in private lessons. Faculty members are proficient in all styles of performance, from classical to pop. The fully sound proofed drum studio is equipped with 2 drum sets, a piano and a marimba as well as sound and video equipment.

Daniel Faust

Daniel Faust draws from a wide variety of professional experiences and environments including pit orchestras, rock clubs, coffee shops, dive bars, concert halls, churches, jazz clubs, wedding bands, funerals, music festivals, high school and collegiate jazz and classical ensembles, corporate functions, and more. A North Carolina native, he attended high school at Weaver Academy for the Performing and Visual Arts and earned his BM in Jazz Studies from UNCG. He regularly performs with artists in a wide variety of genres, including H.C.McEntire, Piedmont Triad Jazz Orchestra, Keenan McKenzie and the Riffers, Mint Julep Jazz Band, Chad Eby Quartet, and others. Daniel has toured nationally and internationally with artists such as Strand of Oaks, Mount Moriah, and a tour of China with the Antonio Truyols Quartet. In addition to teaching at Cary School of Music, he is a faculty member at the Jazz Institute at Jefferson Center, a five-day summer jazz camp in Roanoke. As a teacher, Daniel aims to provide a solid foundation in fundamentals such as technique, reading, and musicality, while drawing on his varied musical background to tailor lessons to students’ personal goals and musical tastes.    

Eren Tastekin

Eren Tastekin is an accomplished drums instructor with a passion for music education and performance. With over 8 years of teaching experience, Eren has successfully mentored students of all ages andmusical backgrounds, inspiring them to develop their drumming skills and reach their full potential. Beyond his teaching expertise, Eren is an experienced performer who has played drums in numerous bands and musical theatre productions across different genres, including rock, pop, funk, blues, jazz and metal. This hands-on experience as a professional drummer gives him a deep understanding of the practical aspects of drumming and allows him to effectively guide his students in developing
their own unique style and musical expression. Eren is also well-versed in recording engineering, music production and sound design, which further enriches his teaching approach. His ability to blend traditional drumming techniques with modern technology and recording methods enables his students to explore the full potential of the instrument and gain
valuable insights into the world of music production.
